Villanders – St. Anna – Pfunderer Bergwerk – Zilderer Kehre

The Pfunderer mine in Villanders was one of the most productive in Tyrol. Until 1942, copper, zinc, lead, and silver were mined here. The mine entrances are located in very difficult terrain. It is strongly advised not to enter the mines without the proper equipment and a local guide. The Villanders Tourism Association regularly offers guided tours of the mine. For information, visit the tourism office.

Tour Route:
From the village square, pass the church and take a steep trail to the second bend of the alpine road. Here, turn right towards Gravetsch. From Gravetsch, two parallel hiking paths lead through a beautiful forest to St. Anna. The two paths merge just before reaching the forest and the chapel. At the chapel, the trail begins, leading near several mine entrances and continuing to meet a forest road. From there, follow the forest road to the Zilderer bend of the alpine road. You can return by bus or descend on foot via Gravetsch back to Villanders.
